CIBAFI Successfully Conducted an Online Technical
Workshop on "Liquidity Management Tools for Islamic Financial Institutions
(IFIs)"

Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain | The General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions,
the global umbrella of Islamic financial institutions, has successfully organised
a two-day online Technical Workshop on: "Liquidity Management Tools for
Islamic Financial Institutions (IFIs)". The workshop was delivered in
Arabic language.
In the dynamic field of Islamic finance, the workshop emphasised
the vital role of effective liquidity management for the sustained growth and
stability of IFIs. Senior representatives from Regulatory and Supervisory
Authorities (RSAs), Islamic banks and financial institutions participated in an
engaging discussion to gain valuable insights into advanced tools and
strategies aligned with Islamic finance principles. The interactive sessions
promoted the exchange of best practices, enhancing liquidity management within
the Islamic finance sector.
The workshop has been inaugurated by welcoming remarks from Ms.
Zainab Al Owainaty, Director of Administration and Finance at CIBAFI. Ms.Al
Owainaty emphasized on CIBAFI commitment in empowering the human resources in
general and practitioners in Islamic finance industry in particular with the
key aspects of effective liquidity management tools and strategies, and to explore
innovative methods to improve liquidity and gain competitive advantage in light
of the rapid changes and developments in the Islamic financial sector.
The workshop is facilitated by Mr. Majed Gharsalli, Head of
Shariah Compliance and Audit, Zitouna Bank, Tunisia. Industry experience and
practical knowledge were shared by distinguished experts and leaders, including
Mr. Abdulkareem Ersan Sukkari, Chief Risk Officer at Islamic
International Arab Bank, Jordan, and Dr. Mohamed Albltagi, Chairman of
the Board at the Egyptian Islamic Finance Association (EIFA).
This technical workshop is aligned with the objective of
Professional Development which endeavours to enhance capacity building within
the Islamic financial industry. These programmes are practical and are targeted
to the staff of Islamic banks and Islamic financial institutions, regulators,
and practitioners. They aim to engage participants in the discussion on the
current environment of the Islamic banking industry.
